AFRICAN countries should not leave rural communities in their development agenda, Housing and Social Amenities Minister Daniel Garwe has said.

Minister Garwe, who is the new chairperson of Shelter Afrique Bureau, said this during the ongoing 41st Shelter Afrique annual general meeting in Victoria Falls.

He urged African governments to channel their energy in developing rural communities, which are lagging behind.

“We need to consider the plight of rural communities in re-developing Africa. I know we all focus on urban communities.

“It is my passion that we focus our trajectory on our rural communities,” he said.

“It is one area within my term that we are going to be focusing on, ensuring that we create financial products that are all-encompassing; that embrace the plight of rural communities.”
