Prize-fighter Nicholas Hwende captured the

interim bantamweight title when he pummelled Brazil’s Gian ‘Patolino’ Souza at EFC 96 in the third round of the fight at the EFC Performance Institute in Johannesburg, South Africa, in August.

The win saw the 26-year-old write his own piece of history, as he became only the third Zimbabwean to hold gold in the history of the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC).
Now, barely three months since being crowned king of the bantamweight, “Gokwe Boy” has his first challenger.

The challenge comes in the form of local boy, Nkazimulo “Zulu Boy” Zulu, and their fight has been announced for the six-fight card for EFC 99 on November 3.

This will be Hwende’s first title defence since winning the belt in August, and he comes up against Zulu, who boasts of 12 wins, five losses and two draws in his short and eventful EFC career.

Their clash will be one of two title fights, as Igeu Kabesa puts his EFC featherweight title on the line against Bradley ‘The Nightmare’ Swanepoel in the main event.
