President Mnangagwa has launched the annual national tree planting season, at the ongoing 19th ZANU PF National People’s Conference in Bindura.

Before commencing proceedings lined up for the first session of the Conference programme, President Mnangagwa planted a Khaya Anthotheca tree, indigenously known as Muwawa.

Speaking after planting the tree, President Mnangagwa said:

“When we plant trees, we do not act just for ourselves but for future generations. I implore everyone to make sure they get into the habit of planting trees.”

President Mnangagwa urged members of the Politburo, who accompanied him, to invest in trees at their homes.

First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa also planted an Afzelia quanzensis (Pod Mahogany) tree.

All members of the politburo planted different tree species, creating a future arboretum in the middle of the Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE) campus.
