Police are investigating the discovery of a decomposing body of a female by a stranger last Friday night in the Mazowe area.
The body, which was covered by grass, had some bruises all over and a protruding left eye, is yet to be identified.
And police say nine condoms were found about five metres away from the corpse.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said police are currently conducting investigations to ascertain what transpired as well as identfying the body.
“Somebody was passing through a bush area going to Mazowe new stands and saw a body lying in a trench facing upwards with a deformed face. The body was half naked, wearing a black top and a white stripped jersey.
“The person reported to the police and police found out that the body was in a trench 60 metres away from Mazowe Jumbo Road.
“A black skin tight and a yellow laced pant were on top of the body’s private parts,” Assistant Commissioner Nyathi said.
He added that some condoms were found close to the body.
“There was one used and eight unused condoms dropped about five metres away from the body. It’s sad really, there are no indications as what could have transpired,” he added.
The body is currently at Concession Hospital.
Assistant Commissioner Nyathi appealed to anyone with information that could assist police in conducting investigations.
“We are also appealing to relatives who might be missing their family member to come forward and contact any nearest police station,” Assistant Commissioner Nyathi said.
