It has been quite the journey for Zimbabwe seamer Blessing Muzarabani at the Pakistan Super League.

Only 10 days ago, the 24-year-old made his long-awaited debut for Multan Sultan, receiving his cap from Zimbabwe cricket legend Andy Flower.

The lanky seamer then went on to star for his side during the resurgence, taking eight wickets in five games.

Now, both Multan Sultan and Muzarabani stand on the cusp of glory when they play Peshawar Zalmi in Thursday’s PSL final.

It is the first time that Sultan have made it into the final, and Muzarabani’s time in the PSL will come full circle as he meets the very same team he made his debut against almost a fortnight ago.

Then, he helped his side to an eight-wicket win during which he finished with one for 34 from his allotted fours.

He was rewarded yet again for his performance in the next game, this time getting the new ball during Multan Sultan’s 110-run win over Quetta Gladiators four days later.

He finished with one for eight from two overs.

Speaking on his debut, and getting the cap from Flower, Muzarabani, or Mabhunu as he is known by in cricket circles, said: “He is a legend of the game.

“It was a really great moment for me, as I had not yet met him (Flower) before my trip here to Pakistan.

“We had a chat, catching up on everything about my career and his.

“He is a really nice guy.

“Having him as a coach here at the PSL is a career highlight for me,” he said.

Flower, a recent inductee in the ICC Hall of Fame, is the head coach of the Multan Sultan.

The 53-year-old also happens to be one of the greatest Zimbabwean cricketers and a veteran of 63 Test and 213 One Day Internationals during his playing days.

During that time, he scored 4 794 Test runs and 6 786 ODI runs during an international career that spun over 10 years.

But the excitement of meeting his idol aside, Mabhunu has bigger fish to fry.

It’s time to make history.

Speaking on the final, the 24-year-old said morale is high in camp and that the focus of the team is to get over their last hurdle.

“Morale in camp has been great. The guys are just focused on winning the game.

“We are very excited for the game and the opportunity to take the trophy.

“Hopefully, we will do well.”

Speaking on his performance, which includes eight wickets from five matches, Muzarabani said he was not entirely satisfied.

“It’s been pretty decent, but there is room for improvement.

“I know I can do better, and, hopefully, I can build on my time here and become a better cricketer.”

The PSL final will be played in Abu Dhabi, with the match starting at 6pm (local time).
