KUDAKWASHE “Take Money” Chiwandire and Zulina Munoz of Mexico faced off at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) on Wednesday before the Zimbabwean boxer declared war on her Mexican opponent.

Chiwandire puts her World Boxing Council Interim Super Bantamweight title on the line when she clashes with Munoz at the HICC on Friday night.

There is a gulf in both experience and age between Chiwandire and Munoz.

While Munoz will be fighting her 60th professional match on Friday, Chiwandire will take to the ring for her ninth professional fight.

According to official boxing records keeper Boxrec, the 35-year-old Mexican has a 53-4-2 record and has 30 won fights by knockout.

On the other hand, the 26-year-old Zimbabwean has a modest 5-2-1 record.

But Chiwandire is not intimidated.

“This is my home and I will not let my people down,” she said.

“She (Munoz) must be strong, if she is not strong, she will fall.

“I never broke camp despite the postponements, so I am very fit. Yes, Munoz is more experienced, but she will fall.

“No one gave me a chance when I beat Catherine Phiri, and that is what is going to happen on Friday.”

Chiwandire beat Phiri in Lusaka, Zambia, in February to clinch the WBC Interim Super Bantamweight title.

And the Zimbabwean is now one fight away from a chance to challenge for the gold belt, which is in the hands of another Mexican, Yamileth Mercado.

The winner between Chiwandire and Munoz will become the mandatory challenger for the WBC Super Bantamweight gold belt.

This is the first time Zimbabwe is staging a WBC-sanctioned fight, and thousands are expected to throng the HICC on Friday night.

But Munoz is confident she will knock out Chiwandire.

“She (Chiwandire) is a great boxer; that’s why she has the belt, but I have come to fight,” Munoz said through her manager.

“Mexico is a great place which produces champions, so I come here to win, win and win.”
