It is looking good for Taurai Mangwiro.

The Zimbabwean coach is enjoying his career in the Botswana Premier League (BPL), where his magic touch has propelled Orapa United to within three points of log leaders Gaborone United.

Mangwiro has lost only twice in the 12 league matches since his appointment in November last year.

The former Harare City coach is currently on a seven-game unbeaten run, which includes six wins and a draw.

That draw came against Township Rollers on Saturday.

As a result, Orapa United – who are also now home to ex-Harare City striker Wilfred Muvirimi – have been rising steadily on the 16-team BPL table.

They are now third on the log with 34 points, three behind Gaborone United going into the second half of the season.

Since Mangwiro’s appointment on November 24, Orapa United have played 12 league games, during which they won nine, drew once and lost twice.

This translates to a 78 percent success rate.

On the contrary, Mangwiro’s fellow countryman, Rahman Gumbo, is enduring a tough campaign with Moropule Wanderers FC.

Gumbo joined Moropule on January 5 after he was sacked by another Botswana top-flight side Sua Flamingoes.

Sadly, the former Warriors star has done little to prevent Moropule from sliding towards the relegation zone.

Their 4-1 loss to Nico United last weekend – their third defeat on the trot – left Wanderers on 12th position, just four points above the relegation zone.

All in all, Morupule Wanderers have played six games since Gumbo took over last month.

They have one win, one draw and four losses.

This translates to a 22 percent success rate for Gumbo.

Former Highlanders gaffer Mandla “Lulu” Mpofu is the other Zimbabwean coaching in the BPL.

His side Masiatoka FC are sixth on the log after losing 3-1 to Sua Flamingoes last weekend.

Mpofu has registered three wins in his last five league encounters.
