NEWLY appointed Dynamos coach, Herbert Maruwa is expected to finalise his backroom staff by the weekend, as he gets down to business at the Harare side.

Maruwa was officially appointed as Dynamos head coach on Tuesday, after weeks of speculation over who would succeed Tonderai Ndiraya.

Although DeMbare made his appointment official on Tuesday, Maruwa’s return to the club has been an open secret from early November, when he was approached by the 21-time league champions.

Maruwa was part of Kalisto Pasuwa’s backroom staff when Dynamos won four straight league titles between 2011 and 2014.

He had a coaching stint in Swaziland, before he returned home to take charge of Black Rhinos.

Maruwa was fired at Rhinos for his alleged use of juju antics before and during matches.

However, Dynamos believe he is the right man to deliver the league title, which has eluded the Mbare side for eight years.

Ndiraya failed to win the championship in the just-ended 2021/2022 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season, and he paid the price.

DeMbare have now turned to Maruwa.

“Dynamos Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of a new technical team for the 2023 season.

“The club has with immediate effect appointed Mr Herbert Maruwa as head coach of the senior team.

“His assistants will be announced in due course,” read Maruwa’s appointment letter dated December 13.

Yadah coach, Genesis Mangombe and former Dynamos captain, Murape Murape are expected to be announced as Maruwa’s assistants.

Former Black Rhinos goalie, Brito Gwere will come in as the goalkeepers’ coach, with either David Kutyauripo or Brighton Chandisaita taking over as the fitness trainer.
