LOCALS have been urged to embrace traditional foods in order to promote good health.

Speaking during the Young Women for Economic Development cookout competition in Harare on Wednesday, chairperson of the organisation’s Harare Chapter, Ms Rufaro Matsika, said most modern foods pose health risks.

“Today we had our cookout competition for Harare Chapter and the main purpose of this is to teach our young women that we are going back to our roots in line with the First Lady’s agenda.

“We need to go back to where we came from through our traditional foods, which are wholesome, organic and protect us from different ailments,” she said.

The cookout programme, which was initiated by First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, is aimed at preserving Zimbabwe’s tradition, culture and promoting healthy living.
