KING Isaac, a Zimbabwean-born reggae/Afro-jazz singer who is based in the United States, on Friday released his second Jiti song titled “Rova Ngoma.”

The new song is fast-paced and was apparently released with the festive season in mind.

King Isaac, whose real name is Isaac Kalumbu, said the new song, which was produced by Gibson Makumbe of Makumbe Productions, will lift the people’s spirits during the festive season.

“This entertaining song is a song that one can dance to over the Christmas holidays and beyond.

“As always, our lyrics are clean and you can play this song to anyone, anywhere,” King Isaac, who is based in Michigan, said.

The “Chimhandara” hit-maker, who is better known as a reggae/Afro-jazz singer, explained why he shifted to Jiti.

“Jiti is one of Zimbabwe’s greatest musical creations. It is a form that relates to a lot of people. It is vibrant, humorous, celebratory, instructive and fun all at the same time.

“Jiti encourages people to dance and we all know that dance is therapeutic and a great releaser of stress,” he said.

In 2019, King Isaac produced his first Jiti song titled “Wachema Muroora.”

Taken off the album Makuwerere, “Wachema Muroora”, which has a laid-back tune, was well-received.

King Isaac said “Rova Ngoma” does not signal a shift from the slow-paced to the fast and danceable rhythm.

“Different songs have different messages and a different feel. As an artiste, you have to provide variety in sounds, pace, lyrics and, in my case, styles, because I do not like to be tied down to one musical genre,” he said.
