Zimbabwe’s judiciary continues to take positive steps towards the adoption of information and communication technologies (ICTs).

ICT, Postal and Courier Services Minister Jenfan Muswere on Friday commended judges for successfully undertaking an ICT training programme.

“This training of judges is not only important as a form of continuous staff development but it has also come at an opportune time when the Covid-19 pandemic has forced us to realise the importance of ICTs,” said Minister Muswere.

“The use of ICTs to comply with Covid-19 regulations such as social distancing has transformed the need for ICT usage knowledge from being an option into a fundamental necessity.

“It is refreshing to note that the judiciary is taking a huge lead in adapting to the new normal where the knowledge of the use of ICTs has become so vital that it can mean the difference between life and death.”

The training of judges in ICTs dovetails with the aspirations of the Government, in its quest to have a digitally literate population as it moves towards becoming an upper-middle-income society by 2030.
