HIGH-END furniture manufacturer Oppein Group officially opened its first shop in Zimbabwe at Sam Levy Village in Borrowdale, Harare, on Wednesday.
Operating under local group Kavod Sati on a franchise, the customised home décor shop is regarded as the first of its kind in Southern Africa.
Oppein has a presence in 188 countries.
In his remarks at the launch event, the company’s representative, Mr Justin Machibaya, said they brought Oppein to Zimbabwe to fill the gap by supplying opulent furniture to the local market.
“With the kind of developments that are taking place, particularly in the residential market, we are targeting property developers and development projects that are coming up,” he said.
“We chose to come to Zimbabwe because when we look at the currently available product, there is definitely a need for futuristic designs.
“What we are trying to bring is quality furniture that is affordable, and our target market is the entirety of people that understand the effect and impact of good living, mainly young professionals, middle income and corporate executives.”
The group manufactures and sells prime kitchen custom cabinets, countertops, appliances and accessories.
Currently, Oppein has 7 200 franchise showrooms worldwide, including Kenya in East Africa.
Founded in China in 1994, the firm is currently the largest bath and kitchen manufacturing company in the world.
In 2021, it had a turnover of US$3,1 billion from the production and sale of approximately six million various products worldwide.
