HERENTALS coach Kumbirai Mutiwekuziva chose to pour scorn at Harare giants CAPS United soon after his side lost a Chibuku Super Cup Group One tie against Makepekepe at the National Sports Wednesday afternoon.

United had to come from behind to snatch their win over Herentals in an otherwise evenly balanced contest prompting Mutiwekuziva to dig in at the Premiership giants.

Gibson Chinobva thrust Herentals in front from the spot after only seven minutes but Makepekepe responded through Tinashe Balakasi before midfielder Blessing Sarupinda headed home a second half winner off a brilliant Ronald Chitiyo cross.

“What’s left of these giants is the so-called brand names, but in terms of the playing personnel we are at par.

“I am always telling my boys that there is nothing different these days between us and these big teams. What’s left is that they are brand names.

“Today’s game was 50-50, but CAPS United only utilized their chances,” said Mutiwekuziva.

CAPS United now face Dynamos on Sunday and coach Darlington Dodo believes his side’s victory against Herentals will be crucial in the build up to the famous Harare derby.

“It was perfect (the win), especially given that we play Dynamos at the weekend,” said Dodo who wants his charges to ride on the victory.

Makepekepe’s danger man Ishmael Wadi had a rather lacklustre show in a game that newboy Brendon Mpofu stole the show with a solid performance at left back.

Herentals central midfielder Kibaki Dhlamini was also outstanding for The Students while 49-year-old Innocent Benza showed some flashes of brilliance especially from set pieces.
