GOVERNMENT is pushing for a high performance work culture within the civil service, a Public Service Commission (PSC) official has said.

Through the recently-introduced Public Service Academy, under which Government employees will go through transformative, disciplinary and professional courses, the PSC aims to instil professional conduct.

Seventeen modules, written by professionals in the sector, are expected to have been rolled out by the end of the year.

In addition, a Memorandum of Agreement signed with the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) will provide the much-needed impetus to curb corruption within the civil service.

Speaking at the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show, partner communications and advocacy with the PSC, Mr Wilfred Munetsi, said the Commission is citizen-centred in its approach.

“We have gone digital in most of our services, we have also encouraged professionalism and team work.

“So you will discover that in different departments and agencies we are infusing new things. We are also talking of identification of public servants. We want you when you walk into a Government office, to be able to identify who you have spoken to and the way they have handled your issue,” he said.

PSC has decentralised to its 68 districts across the country, including on its digital platforms.

At the PSC exhibition stand, during the week-long agricultural show, the public can enquire about various services on offer which include pension benefits, salaries, online job applications, duty free loans offered to import vehicles and the recently launched Sexual Harassment Policy.
