THE appointment of Benjani Mwaruwari as Ngezi Platinum Stars coach could open up opportunities for the Mhondoro-based side to establish links with European clubs, especially those he featured for in France and England.

Mwaruwari, who signed a four-year contract with Ngezi Platinum Stars, believes his appointment comes with a lot of opportunities for the club.

“If I see a good player, then it would be easy for the player to get trials outside the country,” said Mwaruwari.

“That is one of the advantages that I bring with me.

“While I am here, it’s going to be easy for me to facilitate trials for players, and even friendly games for the club to play in Europe and against teams I played for during my career.”

During his playing days, Mwaruwari had stints with AJ Auxerre, Portsmouth and Manchester City.

The former Warriors international is confident he can organise friendly matches for Ngezi Platinum Stars against these teams.

At the time of his appointment, the former Zimbabwe talisman was actually attending a week-long attachment at AJ Auxerre.

The French club is open to playing the Mhondoro-based side as part of their off-season preparations.

“Actually, when I was appointed to the new coach, I was doing my attachment with AJ Auxerre.

“I told them that we would like to come and play with them during a preseason and they accepted the offer.”
