THE Environmental Management Agency (EMA) has renewed Invictus Zimbabwe’s environment impact assessment (EIA) for the Cabora Bassa project, paving the way for exploration to continue at Mukuyu 2.
Invictus is exploring oil and gas in the Cabora Bassa Basin area.
The company’s first high-impact well – Mukuyu-1 – proved a working hydrocarbon system in the area.
In essence, the renewed EIA allows the company to carry out a follow-up appraisal and exploration campaign.
Said Invictus managing director Mr Scott Macmillan: “The company is very pleased to have the Environmental Impact Assessment and our environmental management plan renewed by EMA.
“It clears the way for our upcoming 2D seismic campaign and drilling of the Mukuyu-2 well, allowing us to follow up our initial exploration work at Mukuyu-1, which confirmed a working hydrocarbon system in the Cabora Bassa Basin and the presence of light oil, gas-condensate and helium.”
