NEW: Diaspora community urged to invest back in Zimbabwe

ZIMBABWEANS in the diaspora have been urged to take advantage of the Second Republic’s ease of doing business policies and invest across the different sectors of the economy.

The call was made by Mr Trusty Simbarashe Gushure, a Zimbabwean businessman based in the United Kingdom.

Mr Gushure, who is an international business ambassador for the City of Nottingham, and chairman of Equity Fairness Commission in England, made the call after attending the recently held Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) and Harare Agricultural Show.

“I was saddened to note that we had in attendance, very few Zimbabweans that are based in other countries during the ZITF. I have been to many countries and I would say Zimbabwe is, when compared to other countries, truly open for business,” Mr Gushure said.

He said it is “almost impossible” for Zimbabweans to register companies and do business in some countries.

“I tried and dismally failed to register a company, and invest in one of the European countries. The investment laws in some countries are clearly meant to discourage foreigners from conducting meaningful businesses,” he said.

Mr Gushure is the brains behind the Twinning Zimbabwe Town (TZT) programme, an initiative that has seen several Zimbabwean towns getting twinning arrangements with towns and cities in the United Kingdom.
