NEW: All set for Changamire Festival Awards

THE 9th edition of the Changamire Festival Awards to be held in Harare on April 12, will be a red-carpet event.

According to the founder and director of the awards, Tafadzwa “Zimboy” Muchechetere, the event is a premier platform for celebrating and honouring the vibrant and dynamic local hip-hop culture.

A number of awards are up for grabs, with the likes of trending businessman Wicknell Chivayo also set to be honoured.

Chivayo will be presented with a Community Champion honorary award.

Tatenda “Take Fizzo” Jenami, one of the founding fathers of the urban grooves’ revolution, will get a Lifetime Achievement honorary award.

Botswana’s William Last will be presented with the Influential Socialite of the Year honorary award for his contribution to the comedy industry.

Zimboy said preparations for the awards ceremony were at an advanced stage.

“In terms of preparations, I can safely say that we are at 97 percent. Everything is on point and rehearsals are on-going as we speak,” he said.

The majority of the country’s top hip-hop acts, among them Kikky Badass, Bagga and Saintfloew among others, are set to perform during the awards ceremony.”
