At least 53 ZANU PF aspiring councillors are uncontested after opposition political parties failed to field candidates in most wards across the country, the ZANU PF Commissariat Department has said.
“We now have members who are right through without running the big race.
“There are 53 uncontested seats in the local authorities,” ZANU PF Political Commissar Cde Mike Bimha told the media on Thursday.
However, he said most of the National Assembly seats will be contested.
“On MPs, I still have to get information, but I would like to believe that – from the reports we are getting from all the provinces – most of the seats are contested, but, as I said, we are still getting information.
“But we are now definite about the 53 wards that are uncontested,” he said.
