THE first batch of over 160 teachers who successfully applied for jobs in Rwanda under a bilateral agreement between Harare and Kigali will leave the country on Wednesday evening.

The successful candidates went through online written examinations and oral interviews, which were jointly conducted by the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, and Rwanda’s Ministry of Education.

Last year, Zimbabwe and Rwanda agreed to facilitate the recruitment of 477 Zimbabwean professionals from various fields.

The recruitment is understood to be a continuous process through which more professionals are expected to progressively benefit.

One of the travelling teachers, Dr Joseph Dzavo, who worked as a philosophy lecturer at Madziwa Teachers College in Mashonaland Central since 2010, told The Sunday Mail Online that he will use his vast experience in the new role assigned to him.

“I have a good feeling with this opportunity I have been given by the Government.

“I have been given a higher role to go as the educational research adviser,” he said.
