Ndoro settles Soweto Derby

The Sunday Mail

TENDAI NDORO  broke the hearts of Kaizer Chiefs with a double to give Orlando Pirates a 2-0 win in the Nedbank Cup last 32 at the FNB Stadium on Saturday

Kaizer Chiefs were the first out of the starting blocks with good combination play though the Orlando Pirates  defence stood firm.

However, Bucs were the first with the early opportunity on goal through Zimbabwean striker Ndoro who raced through the Amakhosi defence before he was stopped in his tracks by Reyaad Pieterse after three minutes.

Gift Motupa then squandered a gilt-edge opportunity to put Bucs in the ascendancy an open goal after a cross from Ndoro minutes later while Chiefs for the second time in succession breathe a sigh of relief.

They were nearly rewarded on the hour mark when through Bernard Parker, but sadly the opportunity went astray.

With the first half drawing to a close, the Amakhosi looked for the lead and were denied in expert fashion by Brighton Mhlongo who denied capatain Siphiwe Tshabalala after 38 minutes.

They were nearly awarded three minutes later, but Parker had his shot on goal deflected into touch by his teammate George Maluleka.

The start of the second half had both sides continuing their pursuit for the opener, though the Buccaneers had the more glaring chances on goal but they all went off goal.

However, as the half drew by and with chances on either end few and far between, Ndoro sprung the offside trap to give the Buccaneers the lead in the 75th minute much to the delirium of the Bucs supporters at a barmy Calabash.

Ndoro though doubled his and Bucs tally with a stunning second from metres away from goal that gave Pieterse no chance in the 84th minute to seal their spot in the last 16 and on course for silverware this season.

The defeat to their arch-rivals is Amakhosi’s second this season. –  Goal.com
