HIGH-FLYING Zimbabwe international striker Tino Kadewere was an unused substitute as Lyon thrashed Ajaccio 5-1 in a Coupe de France round of 64 match on Tuesday night.

Kadewere, who has scored nine league goals for French giants Lyon, sat out the whole match, with Algerian forward Islam Slimani taking over his place.

Slimani, who was acquired during the January transfer window, opened the scores in the 22nd minute.

Memphis Depay, Maxwell Cornet, Mathis Cherki and Houssem Aouar were also on target for a rampaging Lyon.

It was not so good for Warriors linkman Marshal Munetsi, who played the last 30 minutes for Reims in a 3-4 loss to Ligue 2 side Valenciennes FC.

In England, left-back Jordan Zemura was an unused substitute as AFC Bournemouth progressed to the FA Cup quarter-final after a 2-0 victory against Burnley at Turf Moor.

Meanwhile, the DStv Premiership continued last night, with Kaitano Tembo’s SuperSport United losing ground yet again.

Kuda Mahachi and Evans Rusike started for United, who fell 2-1 against Ronald Pfumbidzai’s Bloemfontein Celtic.

Pfumbidzai was, however, not in the matchday squad for Siwelele.

SuperSport United are now five points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have accumulated 33.

Warriors forward Terrence Dzvukamanja was on the bench for Orlando Pirates, who coasted to a vital 2-0 against Cape Town City. The Buccaneers are now fourth with 28 points.
