Nothing stays the same. It is an illusion to think that things remain as they are. Everything is always moving and changing.

Greatness is ensuring that your movement is intentional, focused and productive. Strategy is “thought-through” movement towards greatness. It defines direction, clarifies purpose and harnesses the power of focused desire.

Think in terms of movement not arrival. You do not have the luxury of stopping, plating and mindlessly drifting.

Think big, and start moving towards greatness because small dreams leave you playing small, wasting time and squandering the future. Look within, and channel your desire in a strategic manner towards worthy goals. You have more resources that you imagine. You have more strength than you can summon. Move and strange forces will appear to aid you on. You have more help than you can tap. Move in your thinking. Shift in your execution.

Movement starts in the mind. You use the same resources to think big or think small, so if you are going to be thinking you might as well think big. If you are moving you might as well take giant steps.

Strategy-inspired movement takes you beyond the fears of the past. Strategy fuels big moves and gives scale to your dreams. Those who do not see a need to move to greatness are content with the exploits of the past, squabbles of mediocrity and present concerns.

Counting the costs of change strategically. Not all change represents movement towards greatness, but without change there is no movement. Change is not possible when the cost of change is higher than the comfort or pain of remaining in the same place. You will not move if staying in the same place is more attractive and you love where you are. Wake up daily with a desire for greatness and pursue your strategy determined to sustain positive movement. This calls for clarity, focus and perseverance.

Move with Clarity

Strategy planning helps you develop clarity and focus. You clarify the big moves, pathways, priorities and catalytic activities. Without clarity there can be no alignment. If your strategy process does not help you move with clarity, focus and direction, then it is not a strategy but a casual social  discussion. Pedestrian tools that are used to tick the management boxes and fill forms is not strategy. Strategy represents how you will move towards a desired chosen future. It may not be easy but it is possible.

Strategy allows you to clarify where you are, what you are doing there and where you are going to next. Strategy allows you to see the future and plant your flag in its summits. Faith makes you embrace the future and it becomes your guiding instrument. Goal setting allows you to chunk into chewable bites the challenges of moving to the future. Strategy allows you to assess the quality, timing direction and momentum of your movement. Mere movement without clarity of direction is a waste of energy. Movement without measurement is dabbling in dark arts. Mere talk without movement is a brew of frustration.

Clarity is generated through open and inclusive conversations. Clarity is gained when space is created for listening and paying attention to all the voices and views in the room. No one has a monopoly on the future and on wisdom. Use all the mental resources at your disposal.

To drive towards greatness clarify what the headwinds and the tailwinds are.

The headwinds are the opposing forces that you are moving against, while tailwinds are forces that are in support of your positive, strategic movement. Crucial conversations can be challenging but they are the best catalyst for movement. Be willing to ask questions that are uncomfortable, confront the brutal facts and face reality. Reality does not disappear simply because it has been ignored.

Move with Courage

Movement towards greatness demands bold action and big moves. Small thinking leads to small uncommitted, risk-less steps that do not help one cross the seas of transformation. When the strategy direction is set, move by taking bold steps. Be bold, be determined and be structured in your movement because that is where the genius of greatness is. Bold action will stimulate your creativity and will move you forward. Move with courage and you will learn and you will be too busy to worry. Stop focusing on the negative and focus on the possibilities and momentum that are generated while you are on the move.

Start moving with courage towards your greatness and it shall rise to meet you.

Make big bets, not as a gambler but as a strategist who understands the trends, sees the possibilities and realises that it is only action that stimulates movement towards greatness. When you have seen the opportunity, move forward with bold focus. Winning happens when you take bold action at the decisive moments that come your way. Every decision moves you towards or away from greatness.

You will never be sure that any action is the best action. You can always be sure that the best you can in any situation is the bold action you can take. It is better to fail having tried than to fail to try because you hesitated at the decisive strategic moment.

Move with courage and stop being timid. Be strategic and move things, move your team, move yourself and the mission forward. Think big and commit to taking action. Keep moving towards big goals. When you move boldly you grow stronger. Refuse to stand still in the highway juts being busy by being busy. Strategy movement must be strategic and intentional.

Move with Desire

There is power in desire. This is that inner fire and flame that refuses sit still. Desire will make you move while others sit still. Desire will make you work while others sleep. Desire will make you knock on doors that others pass. Allow your desire to be a power force that moves you into action. Desire is a tree of motivation from which you can draw energy for positive movement.

Goals help you plant the seed of desire in your heart. Keep looking at your goals until the flame of desire takes hold. Keep thinking about your greatness until the seed of desire starts sprouting. Desire is the key to sustained momentum.

Move significantly

Strategy is about making big moves in pursuit of big ambitions. Dreaming small, makes you park in the past. Fuzzy visions make you pursue greatness with fading maps. You cannot play in the significant leagues thinking like an ant and obsessed with personal significance. Strategy defines the big and bold moves to take. Half-hearted and hesitant moves results in false starts and hesitant action.

Significant achievements are born out of significant defining strategies. Strategy enables you to do significant things that matter. What matters most must never be sacrificed at the altar of personal ambition.

The mission is always greater that an individual. The scale of your ambitions determines the big moves that are informed by your strategy.

Uncertainty and risk will always be there. Strategy is about committing to a path and taking a big bets without betting the organisation. Commit to a path to a bold and exciting future. Vision is more than comic book fantasies. Strategy is more than playful musings. Strategic moves must move you if you are strategic. Make a bold move that create greatness. Strategies that tolerate mediocrity do not deliver greatness. Small actions taken timidly cannot be reckoned as strategy. Every day routine actions can not be said to be strategy. Move in significant ways in pursuit of great strategic goals.

Strategic movement is about transformation and elevation more than just maintenance. Building strategic capabilities is about crafting compelling steps forward. Tired narratives are not strategic issues. Strategy calls for effective, visionary and bold leadership that enables real movement and not standing still.

Moving towards greatness goes beyond excuses to finding a way where others see only problems. Strategy feeds on opportunities that are disguised everywhere as big and wicked problems. When great people see problems they get excited. Greatness is feasible and it is always calling for those who are willing to pursue.
