MODEL, accountant and writer Amanda Mutabeni is trying to inspire aspiring models through her books that focus on the profession.

She has since launched her second book titled “Becoming the Model”.

Amanda, who can best be described as a beauty with brains, believes her book will be a game changer in the modelling industry.

“Becoming the Model” was motivated by the author’s personal experience on the ramp.

“What I want to achieve from the book is to educate and equip anyone who intends to pursue the modelling profession. The book gives an insight into what to expect in the modelling industry and how to counter some of the challenges,” she said.

The success of her first book, she added, motivated her to write another one.

“My first book, ‘The Realities of Modern-Day Dating’, put me in the spotlight and I captured the attention of many youngsters. In the process, they learnt that I am a model and many became interested in the modelling profession.

“‘Becoming the Model’ is a handbook designed specifically for active and aspiring models.”

Asked to choose between modelling and writing, Amanda said: “Honestly, I will not be able to choose as I have grown to love both. I believe I can handle being a model and writer at the same time. Modelling has always been my passion. I have always loved to do it.”

She said although writing became part of her life along the way, she had grown fond of the “pen”. Her wish is to give the modelling industry a positive image and help improve the fortunes of fellow writers.

“The modelling industry has been negatively portrayed, while the writing industry is not getting due credit. My dream is for people in these professions or those seeking to be in these industries to go for what they believe in and get the best,” she said.

“They should never look down upon themselves or let anyone pull them down.”

Amanda encouraged girls to be bold as they pursue their dreams.

“My advice to young females out there is, if you are interested in becoming anything or do anything, you should immediately give it a shot. Don’t hesitate. You are the architect of your own life.”

Amanda, who also runs a social media show that focuses on relationships, is, however, yet to win a crown in her modelling career.
