‘Mliswa still Chair’ Mr Mliswa

The Sunday Mail

Zanu-PF Mashonaland West secretary for administration Cde Kindness Paradza says the chair, Cde Temba Mliswa, remains in charge of the province and will not be removed unconstitutionally.

However, deputy chair Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi immediately hit back, saying “Cde Mliswa is gone for good”.

In a statement yesterday, Cde Paradza said the vote of no confidence passed on Cde Mliswa by his executive was “null and void”.

“Contrary to recent reports in the media regarding the alleged ouster of Cde Temba Mliswa as the provincial chairman of Mashonaland West, I would like to set the record straight.

“As the secretary for administration in Mashonaland West, I would like to make it clear that the unsanctioned grouping held under the guise of a provincial executive council meeting was unconstitutional and therefore any resolutions made thereupon are null and void.

“Accordingly, Cde Temba Mliswa hereby remains and is the provincial chairman of Mashonaland West.”

Mashonaland West provincial executive members passed the no-confidence vote on Cde Mliswa for his alleged links with the United States Central Intelligence Agency and denigrating party leaders.

Cde Ziyambi, who subsequently became acting chair, yesterday said: “We will not go back on our decision. As far as we are concerned, Cde Mliswa is gone. He will not come back.

“We will write the letter to the National Chairman (Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo) on Monday, formally informing the superiors of our decision. . . It was not possible to hold the meeting in his (Mliswa’s) presence because he had hired thugs to disrupt the meeting.

“This is why we had to make the announcement at a police station.”

Zanu-PF spokesperson Cde Rugare Gumbo said the party awaited official communication on the goings-on in the province.

“We are just reading everything in the papers. There has been no communication made to us so far. However, my understanding is that the last Politburo meeting made it clear that there should not be any further suspensions until Congress.

“But if the letter comes from Mashonaland West, it will be dealt with on its merit and a decision will be made.”
