MAZOWE High School has established a US$1,7 million state-of-the-art Advanced Level Learning Centre that consists of 14 classrooms and 18 offices.

It was officially opened by Primary and Secondary Education Minister Torerayi Moyo on Friday.

The event was also graced by local Salvation Army Church members and those from Botswana, as well as parents and the school’s alumni.

Mazowe High School is a Salvation Army Church boys boarding school in Mazowe district, Mashonaland Central province.

Also in attendance were prominent gospel musicians Pastor Charles Charamba and his wife Olivia.

Minister Moyo commended Mazowe High School’s School Development Committee for the initiative.

“We celebrate the remarkable efforts of Mazowe High’s School Development Committee to improve the school amenities and create a conducive environment suitable for teaching in Mashonaland Central province.

“It is through education that we empower our young minds, equip them with knowledge and prepare them to face the challenges of the future,” he said.

The new learning facility, he said, is a significant step forward in local education.

“It is designed to offer a conducive environment for advanced level studies, providing specialised resources, state-of-the-art facilities and a curriculum that promotes critical thinking, creativity and innovation,” he added.

Minister Moyo commended the school for producing good results at both O’ Level and A’ Level.

It had an O’ Level pass rate of 89 percent, while the  A’ Level pass rate stood at 98 percent.

Fifteen learners had 15 points at A’ Level.

“Our thrust as a ministry is to ensure that every child of school-going age has access to quality and equitable education, and this goes in line with the mantra of His Excellency, the President of Zimbabwe, Dr ED Mnangagwa, of leaving no place and no one behind.”
