Dendera crooner Suluman “Sulu” Chimbetu and Zora exponent Leonard Zhakata will today (October 9) team up for a family show at Vicaz Place (PaZindoga) in Harare. Vicaz Place is fast proving to be a good joint for a decent family outing. Sungura maestro Alick Macheso recently held a successful family show at the joint and Sulu and Zhakata hope to keep the trend going.
This will not be a mammoth task for the two musicians. The duo seems to have found a way to bring the best out of each other.
Sulu and Zhakata aka Lkzee have been holding joint shows around the country in the past weeks and their combination appears to be receiving the thumbs-up.
Lkzee is riding high on national radio stations, particularly Radio Zimbabwe with his song “Madam Boss”, which features Sulu and Progress Chipfumo, off his latest offering “Mutunga Dzese”. Other songs on Zhakata’s seven-track album are “Zvine Mwaka”, “Tsvimbo Dzehumambo”, “Mutunga Dzese”, “Moyo Wekutenda”, “Wauya Nei” and “Kuzvarwa Kwemutumwa”.
On the other hand, Sulu is successfully creating hype around his forthcoming album “Havasi Kutiziva”, which is set for release this year.
Some of the songs from the forthcoming album that have already aroused interest among the dendera crooner’s fans are “Alice Mbewe”, “It’s Not Necessary” and “Mhasuro aka Monya”.
Sulu’s publicist Joe “Local” Nyamungoma last week said, “…from the look of things, this combination is doing justice to fans from both sides. Our fans have requested that we team up with Lkzee once again and I’m told similar requests have been made by Zhakata’s fans.”
