VETERAN Joel Lupahla made a fairytale return to top flight football as he scored the winner at Nyamhunga yesterday.

Lupahla’s sixth minute strike condemned ZPC Kariba to their second Castle Lager Premier Soccer League defeat in as many matches.

The electricians fell 0-1 away to Triangle in new coach Sunday “Mhofu” Chidzambwa’s first game in charge last weekend.

Chidzambwa clearly has a tough job on his hands as last season’s league runners-up appear bewildered following the departure of Saul Chaminuka.

Tsholotsho coach Lizwe Sweswe reckons yesterday’s victory will prove to be the turning point for a side that is battling relegation.

“It’s quite a big achievement to win against a coach of Sunday Chidzambwa’s calibre, we all respect him and look up to him and I must thank my boys for that.

“We have been waiting for this breakthrough and I think this should signal the beginning of better times for Tsholotsho FC.”

The new boys have now collected 14 points from 15 matches and Sweswe hopes Lupahla continues scoring.

“You see, Joel (Lupahla) proved that experience is always the key. That goal was crucial and we are all happy to have him in the squad. He has brought confidence to the side, he is making the boys believe in themselves and that is what experience is all about,” said.
