DYNAMOS president Kenny Mubaiwa has revealed that they gave Lloyd Mutasa an ultimatum to collect 23 points from 10 games because they did not believe in the gaffer’s capacity. Although he didn’t say it publicly, Mubaiwa never liked Mutasa and was always sceptical of the gaffer when he took over from Portuguese coach Paolo Jorge Silva mid-2016, hence the ultimatum which was roundly condemned.

But the script has changed this season.
The Dynamos boss is singing praises of Mutasa and says there are no ultimatums.
“At Dynamos we only give a coach an ultimatum when we doubt him and that’s why last season we gave Mutasa a condition. We did not believe in him,” said Mubaiwa. “This season we are giving him a free role because we now believe he knows where we are going.

You have to give him thumbs-up for building a formidable team and he has done so economically.”
Mutasa has gradually assembled a tough team, with a thin budget and hope is abound at Dynamos that the Glamour Boys will reclaim the league title they last won in 2014 under Kalisto Pasuwa.

Mutasa also acknowledged the support he is getting from Mubaiwa.
“You can see that this time around, the executive is really eager to support the technical team. The president, Mubaiwa, is pushing hard to improve our conditions and what’s only left is for us to deliver on the pitch,” Mutasa said.

Mutasa led DeMbare to an unexpected second position last season, losing the title to FC Platinum on the last day of the 2017 Castle Lager Premier League race.
