Liquid Telecom recently launched the Next Generation Voice service which enables Internet-based calls.

At the launch, Secretary for ICT, Postal and Courier Services Dr Sam Kundishora commended Liquid Telecom for its technological advancements.

“It is greatly encouraging that companies such as Liquid Telecom keep making Zimbabwe proud in terms of its ICT achievements as today we celebrate yet another milestone in launching Next Generation Voice. This increases operational efficiency in business in a cost effective manner,” he said

Liquid Telecom Zimbabwe MD and group executive for Southern Africa Mr Wellington Makamure said customers were destined to experience improved service.

“Next Generation Voice is based on voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) technology. This is a series of transmission capabilities that make communication over the Internet a possibility,” said Mr Makamure.

VoIP is a group of technologies for delivery of voice communications and multimedia sessions over the internet. Other terms commonly associated with VoIP are IP telephony, internet telephony, broadband telephony, and broadband phone service.

“This is the next generation of land line calling that is dependent on reliable Internet. The difference in call clarity and reliability and value added business services means Next Generation Voice is an essential platform to improve business communications and increase productivity. It enhances business efficiency with clear calls to any destination in the world,” said Mr Makamure.

He indicated that transition to Next Generation Voice service was simple and required only a Liquid Telecom fibre connection.

“It is integrated using one of two options, either utilising your legacy PABX or by installing a state-of-the-art IP telephone system,” said Mr Makamure.

“This service reduces your communications bill by up to 35 percent with free calls to other 08677 numbers and reduces costs for call other local calls. There are competitive rates for regional and international calls.

“You will be glad to realise that with per second billing you only pay for what you use. This service is exclusive to Liquid Telecom of all land line services in Zimbabwe. You have unmatched voice clarity and reliability on this service which runs on our super-fast fibre network.”

Liquid Telecom is the leading independent data, voice and IP provider in Eastern, Central and Southern Africa, supplying fibre optic, satellite and international carrier services.

The company is behind Africa’s largest single fibre network which runs from the north of Uganda to Cape Town, currently spanning over 18 000km across borders and covering Africa’s fastest-growing economies.
