The Sunday Mail

A Karoi farmer has taken alcohol and soft drinks giant Delta Beverages to court for buying maize below the gazetted price of US$390 per tonne.
Mr Never Gasho alleges that the company is taking advantage of desperate farmers who are shunning the hard-pressed Grain Marketing Board to buy grain at US$260 per tonne.

According to an application filed at Karoi Magistrates’ Court, Delta Karoi and the depot manager are cited as first and second respondents, respectively.

Mr Gasho wants the court to ensure the gazetted price prevails.
He alleges that Delta treated farmers unfairly and also accuses the company of lacking legal documents to justify deviating from its core business and of compromising progress of land reforms and implementation of the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio Economic Transformation by fleecing farmers.

The case will be heard on July 28.
