I know most, if not all, Caps United fans are happy with the latest developments at the club.

Of course, they are happy that one of their former players is in the board, but let me be quick to say that it is not going to be only Alois Bunjira or Farai Jere who is going to help power Makepekepe back to the glory days.

It’s going to take team effort.

In team effort, I am talking about Jere, Twine Phiri and the chief executive, members of the board, administration staff, players, technical staff and fans.

Yes, I have a role to play and I hope my efforts and contributions will help in the push to make this football club the best in the country.

I am board member marketing, the club’s brand ambassador and the link between the club and its former players.

On the marketing side, I have been tasked with making the Caps United brand bright.

It is part of my role to make sure that the Green Machine brand is attractive enough to make the corporate world feel comfortable working with us.

We would love to have as many corporate partners as we can; there is space for everyone at Caps United.

I believe the Caps United brand is the best marketable sports brand in the country if everything is in order as it is now.

Any brand associated with a stable like Caps United will sell.

I will be happy to work with any corporate or individual interested in partnering Makepekepe.

We will embark on a lot of marketing and social activities that we hope to partake with future partners.

The sky can only be the limit.

I might be the board member marketing, but everyone at the club will have to play their part in marketing the club as well.

The best way to market the club is through winning.

The players and technical staff play a big part in this and all we can do is to make their working conditions conducive.

Being the link between the club and its former players is also a big responsibility.

The directors of the club decided it was time to touch base with the club’s roots and bring back the flavour of the old times.

The current players need to rub shoulders with club legends and learn from these guys what it means to wear that green and white uniform.

It will be great to have the full support of all our former players; we want to be one great happy family.

That brings me to the issue of fans coming to the games with their families.

We would like the Makepekepe home games to be very friendly, especially for ladies and children.

Going forward, we want to have bays that accommodate only those that come as couples or with children.

We understand how important it is to have children getting into the groove of supporting Caps united at an early age.

The active fans of Caps United today were young children when we won the league back in 1996.

They have maintained their allegiance to the team.

We also appreciate the female touch in the crowd. We want women to feel free to come and support their team.

As long as we have massive support at our games, things will fall into place.

The Green Machine is moving!

Alois Bunjira is the Caps United board member responsible for marketing and is also brand ambassador.
