HWANGE Colliery Company Limited (HCCL) has appointed Mr Jemister Chininga as the new board chair following the recent departure of Mr Farai Mutamangira under unclear circumstances.
Mr Chininga will assume his new role effective October 15, 2015.
He has been a non-executive director of HCCL since August 2011.
In a statement Friday, HCCL said: “He is an accomplished business executive and strategist with vast technical knowledge and management experience spanning across both the private and public sectors of the economy.”
Mr Chininga brings a wealth of experience into HCCL after holding top positions both in Government and private sector in the past.
He has held the position of Deputy Secretary (Finance and Administration) in the Ministry of Industry and International Trade during his time in the Public Service.
Mr Chininga was also chairman of the State Procurement Board and has been managing director of Ramotswa Steel – a subsidiary of Ziscosteel based in Botswana.
He has also been group managing director of Zisco subsidiaries in Botswana, Namibia and Zambia.
Mr Chininga holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the United States International University, San Diego, California, among other qualifications.
