Liberation war hero Cde Tendai Mutadza, who passed away in Harare last Tuesday after having been unwell for sometime, was yesterday laid to rest at the Harare Provincial Heroes Acre. In her graveside eulogy, Minister of State for Harare Metropolitan Province Miriam Chikukwa said youths should emulate Cde Mutadza’s exemplary behaviour.

“We also heard that she was a unifier in the family, I want to urge the family to remain united,” she said.

Harare Province War Veterans chair Cde Charles Mpofu described the late freedom fighter as a dedicated and selfless cadre.

“Her death has left a huge void which will be difficult to fill,” he said.

Cde Mutadza, whose Chimurenga name was Mauto Tendai, did her primary education at Chiunye School in Mashonaland East.

She joined the liberation struggle in 1977 and was stationed at Tembwe Base in Mozambique.

After independence, she joined the Zimbabwe Republic Police and remained active in war veterans association structures. She later joined the Harare Polytechnic in 2006.

Cde Mutadza is survived by her children Confidence (30), Joel (27), Felistas (23) and Micah (18).
