TWO first-half goals by Aaron Chiwandamidzi and William Kaphuma ensured Herentals recorded their first home victory of the season, walking away 2-1 victors over Bulawayo City.
During the 19th minute, Chiwandamidzi put the hosts in front after tapping in a cross from Archimore Majarira who had broken loose from a counter-attack. Bulawayo City then equalised in the 36th minute through a Timothy January volley. But the lead was shot lived as William Kapumha restored Herentals’ lead, courtesy of a well-taken free-kick minutes before the halfway mark.
Herentals, who had to resort to delaying tactics in the second half, could have won by a greater margin had their strike force, led by skipper Blessing Majarira, been more lethal in front of goal.
An elated Herentals FC coach Kumbirai Mutiwekuziva described his side’s victory as a welcome development as the team’s main objective is survival.
“This is a very positive result in our efforts to survive. “In the Premier League, collecting points is very key and we hope to maintain such performances in our upcoming games.
