Hands off the country’s security forces

Didn’t I warn you recently that we should brace ourselves for a crazy season?

The puppies have already bolted and you can see their dirty diapers all over the place.

Fortunately, patriotic Zimbabweans know that puppies do not bite, and that their diapers will pollute the air and nothing else.

Well, what exactly am I talking about?

The above statements may be too abstract or too cryptic for many people.

Here goes the story.

Nelson Chamisa and Fadzayi Mahere have of late been building castles in the air.

The temptation is to laugh, but then, the two are playing with fire and taking their lunacy too far.

In Shona they say, “Vaviri ava vave kutambira kunonyudza.”

Chamisa and Mahere recently wrote some mumbo jumbo, trying to give the impression that they were giving the country’s security forces assurance that they would be safe if their party wins the elections this year.

Understandably, these two are still young and are allowed to hallucinate, but since they threw themselves into the political ring, we will not allow their naivety, ignorance and recklessness to spoil our politics.

Let me make something very clear from the outset. Whenever Chamisa tries to appear clever by sounding as if he cares about the country’s security forces, it nauseates some of us. When he opens his mouth pretending to be giving the country’s security forces whatever assurance, it feels like an insult to some of us.

The country’s security forces do not need his assurance, and, most importantly, he cannot give that assurance.

In fact, it is Chamisa who needs assurance from the security forces for political survival.

We do not joke when it comes to our security forces. We have been watching Chamisa and his lackeys saying a lot of nonsense about what they think is giving assurance to the country’s security forces.

During the country’s Defence Forces Day in August last year, Chamisa insulted the country’s security forces when he said they would “well-resource and feed the security forces as they are the defenders of the nation’s security and safety”.

This was an insult because, for some strange reasons, it looks like Chamisa thinks that what matters most to the country’s security forces are resources and being well-fed. Is that how cheap he thinks our security forces are?

To the security forces, their main responsibility is to defend this country. Issues about resources and being well-fed are secondary.

A bit of history will help Chamisa to sober up a bit.

During the liberation struggle, comrades went to the warfront not even knowing where they would get their next meal. They fought the Smith regime, which was armed to the teeth, without even thinking about resources.

Those comrades who fought during the liberation struggle still form the core of the country’s security forces, so, when Chamisa dangles resources in their face, they feel insulted.

It was never about resources and it is still not about resources. It is about defending the country.

If Chamisa does not understand this, he should get in touch with people who have gone through army training and those who have passed through the Chitepo School of Ideology.

Does he think the country’s security forces are admired and respected across the world because of resources?

The country’s security forces are admired and respected because they are principled and conduct their work professionally.

Chamisa went on to say, “We affirm our respect and honour to you, our national pride.”

I repeat, we feel insulted by these reckless statements.

Does Chamisa really think the country’s security forces are fools?

How can he say he respects and honours the country’s security forces, yet he is a project funded by countries that seek to effect regime change in Zimbabwe? If he really respects and wants to honour the country’s security forces, he should cut off his Western umbilical cord.

We know Chamisa, just like Morgan Tsvangirai, is a puppet being sponsored to return our country to the blood-sucking colonialists.

The young man should stop insulting us.

Chamisa is staring at imminent defeat, an embarrassing defeat, actually, but it is important to give him a strong reminder.

I like history because it has a sobering effect.

Let us take a journey back to 2002, 2008 and, of course, 2017.

As the MDC sponsors and their puppets were fooling themselves that finally they were going to smuggle Tsvangirai into power, in 2002, the then Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, General Vitalis Zvinavashe, gave a statement that shook the world.

“We wish to make it very clear to all Zimbabwean citizens that the security organisations will only stand in support of those political leaders who will pursue Zimbabwean values, traditions and beliefs for which thousands of lives were lost in pursuit of Zimbabwe’s hard-won independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and national interests.

“To this end, let it be known that the highest office in the land is a straightjacket whose occupant is expected to observe the objectives of the liberation struggle. We will, therefore, not accept, let alone support or salute, anyone with a different agenda that threatens the very existence of our sovereignty.”

Put simply, General Zvinavashe was saying the country’s security forces would not support or salute anyone whose intention was to reverse the gains of the liberation struggle.

Chamisa replaced Tsvangirai, but the agenda is still the same — to effect regime change.

Chamisa should know that he cannot say he respects the country’s security forces. He remains a puppet that will be dealt with at the appropriate time.

If Chamisa and his sponsors think General Zvinavashe’s statement is way back in history, let me zoom in to 2008.

In 2008, General Zvinavashe’s predecessor, General Constantino Chiwenga, who is now the country’s Vice President, also warned the country’s enemies, saying: “Elections are coming and the army will not support or salute sellouts and agents of the West before, during and after the presidential elections . . .”

The message was and remains loud and clear — the security forces will not support or salute sellouts. Chamisa has rebranded the MDC to CCC, but he remains the face of all sellouts and agents of the West. Nothing has changed.

A sellout or agent of the West cannot start acting as if he has the capacity or morality to give any assurance to the country’s security forces.

Then came the historic November 2017.

We will not be bluffing when we say “Zimbabwe will never be a colony again!”

In 2017, when the G40 faction in ZANU PF was holding then President Robert Mugabe hostage due to old age, threatening the country’s political stability, General Chiwenga again reminded the country’s enemies that the security forces would not stand by and watch the reckless cabal reversing the gains of the liberation struggle.

A few days before launching Operation Restore Legacy, General Chiwenga warned: “It is pertinent to restate that the Zimbabwe Defence Forces remain the major stockholder in respect to the gains of the liberation struggle and when these are threatened, we are obliged to take corrective measures . . .”

Does Chamisa really understand what the word stockholder means?

Will students of political science please explain things to this young man?

How can stockholders be given assurance by a sellout?

How can an agent of the West pretend to respect the stockholders of the country’s liberation struggle?

Let me repeat: Next time you hear Chamisa pretending to give assurance to the country’s security forces, just know that he is making his bad situation worse.

We know what he is.

We also know we are fighting something much bigger than him.
