A 65-YEAR-OLD Harare woman appeared before a Mbare magistrate on Saturday on charges of stealing a US$15 mobile phone which had been left on a charger at her house.
Gladys Ndlovu of Matapi Flats in Mbare, Harare is accused of last week stealing and selling a ZTE mobile phone belonging a man only identified as Trymore, who resides nearby.
The accused admitted guilt but said she had mistaken the phone with hers which was stolen at her house in 2013 by a boy she stays with only identified as Manzi.
She said her intention was to “fix” Manzi for allegedly stealing her phone.
Magistrate Mr Stanford Mambanje said the accused had no right to take the phone and directed her to return to court on Monday with the gadget at which point he would decide what to do next.
Mr Lawrence Gangarahwe prosecuted.
