MUSICIAN, television presenter and estate agent Alexio “Goodchild” Gwenzi has signed an ambassadorial deal with civil engineering and construction company Civilnet Engineering.

It is the second such deal the artiste has clinched this year, after he earlier on signed to become a brand ambassador for Quest Financial Services. The new deal will see Goodchild promoting Civilnet Engineering products, and performing other duties.

“Since Gwenzi is already into the real estate industry, we felt he has a better understanding of what we do and how to go about it, unlike other artistes,” said Civilnet Engineering managing director Bonny Kanyenze.

“He is a well-known local artiste with passion and ambition. We were looking for someone who has had experience working as a brand ambassador with other companies and with a clean record, shying away from controversy, as our brand cannot be associated with bad publicity.”

Kanyenze said signing Goodchild was also part of their corporate social responsibility in the arts and sports sectors.

“We have been engaged in supporting the arts for quite a long time now,” he revealed.

Goodchild is upbeat about the developments and rates this as one of the highlights of his career this year.

“Signing ambassadorial deals with some of the biggest local companies this year is something that was beyond my imagination. But I think it speaks volumes of the work that I have been putting in over the years.

“As an artiste, you are a brand and what you do or say can make you or break you. Since I broke onto the scene as an urban grooves artiste in 2004, I have been working hard on my image and this will help in my new role as a brand ambassador,” said Goodchild.

“They are a homegrown company that is committed to creating employment and offering quality services.”

Goodchild has produced a number of hits throughout his career.

They include “Tama Naye”; “Shuwa”, featuring Shinsoman; “Faya Faya”, a collaboration with “Ti Gonzi”; “Underrated”, featuring Nutty O; and “Good To Me”, in which he worked with ExQ.

He also had a stint with ZBC as a television presenter for “Coke on the Beat”, among other programmes.
