FML donates  towards Covid-19

First Mutual Group yesterday joined other players in the private sector donating towards the fight against Covid-19 pandemic after contributing $750 000 towards food packs to be distributed to vulnerable communities.

In a statement, FMG group marketing and strategy executive Mr Farayi Mangwende said the food packs targeted people in self-isolation.

“Following the Covid-19 pandemic, …  First Mutual Group subsidiaries have responded to the call and will complement the Government’s and other corporate organisations efforts in this fight by making a contribution of $750 000 towards food packs to be distributed to vulnerable communities,” read the statement.

“The intention is to provide food/home care packs to people in self isolation, isolation packs for larger family units, primary caregivers or breadwinners, and lastly to specifically identified individuals.”

This food packs will be distributed through a partnership with Miracle Missions, a local a non-profit organisation. Private sector companies have in recent weeks made large donations towards assisting the fight against coronavirus in cash and kind.

“First Mutual is playing its role as a responsible corporate and contributing to a national cause,” the company further stated.

“This is in line with the group’s CSR initiatives to contribute to the community in which the business operates and has been involved in previous fundraising efforts towards the cholera epidemic and Cyclone Idai disaster experienced in Zimbabwe the past two years.”

Delta Corporation recently donated $5 million and committed to hand over other goods worth $1 million.

Croco Motors also donated an ambulance worth US$90 000, among a number of corporates that have given to the cause.
