FINALLY, and at the sixth time of asking, Taurai Mangwiro managed to deliver his first set of three points at the helm of Triangle when his men came from behind to claim victory in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clash at Barbourfields yesterday.

Mangwiro, who quit the job of Zifa technical director in favour of replacing David “Yogi” Mandigora at the Lowveld side, went into the match under heavy pressure.

Triangle had drawn three and lost two of their opening five matches and the former Caps United and Harare City coach conceded that he was in a sticky place ahead of the trip to Bulawayo.

“Of course as a coach I have pressure to deliver the results but that pressure is coming from me and not my bosses,” Mangwiro was quoted as saying on Friday.

Triangle chairman Lovemore Matikinyidze was also forced to come out and defend his coach as pressure mounted. Both Mangwiro and Matikinyidze must have feared for the worst as Mkhululi Moyo opened the scoring for Bulawayo City on 22 minutes.

However, it all turned sweet for the sugar cane processors as James Chivasa restored parity on 49 minutes before Lameck Nhamo gave Triangle the lead on 63 minutes.

With a maiden league win in sight, Triangle sought to close out shop and Bulawayo City for all their huffing and puffing could not find a way through the visitors’ defence.

The win took Triangle’s tally to six points from as many matches and Mangwiro believes better days are on the way for his team’s supporters after a very difficult start. For Bulawayo City, this was their second defeat of the season.

However, coach Mandla “Lulu” Mpofu felt his team deserved more from this one but paid dearly for fluffing their lines in front of goal, especially in a first half they dominated.
