Festive cheer for Kadoma

Music lovers in Kadoma have something to smile about with several high profile artistes set to descend on the small town this coming weekend.

The Odyssey Kadoma amps up the Christmas mood when it hosts Alick Macheso and Selmor Mtukudzi on Friday, with a family show headlined by Jah Prayzah and Leonard Zhakata shutting down the weekend the following day.

Both gigs are poised to be electric, not just because of the calibre of musicians taking to the stage, but also because of the merry mood that will be in the air considering that this is the last weekend before Christmas.

Macheso is as big as it gets when it comes to the hierarchy of live performers in the country and he will be out to prove that he is still the best in the business come Friday.

The sungura maestro has been on a roll this year with his collaboration with Freeman “Ngaibake” being one of the biggest songs right now.

Trying to explain what this legendary artiste can do on stage is pointless as his bag of tricks knows no bounds and he always has some new stunt up his sleeve.

Selmor, who is fresh from an international tour, is another artiste who always manages to excite when she is on stage.

She is set to release a new album early next year and might use this opportunity to sample some of the songs from the forthcoming project.

The family show on the Saturday is also exciting in many respects.

Jah Prayzah

While Jah Prayzah and Leonard Zhakata are more for a mature audience, kids have not been forgotten this one with the former’s son, Mukudzei Junior also set to perform.

The show, which kicks off at 9am will be free for early birds as only those who come after 11am will have to pay a cover charge.

Odyssey Kadoma is one of the most popular joints in the town when it comes to hosting big artistes.

The venue recently held sold out Braai Fest which was headlined by Winky D and Enzo Ishall.
