CONDOLENCES continue to pour in for the late former CAPS United coach, Steve Kwashi, who passed away on Monday and was buried Tuesday at Glen Forest in Harare.

Members of the CAPS United squad of 1996 which won the league title under Kwashi have been at the forefront, especially on various social media forums.

Mpumelelo Dzowa, a key player in that squad, posted a touching message on his Facebook page Wednesday morning.

“Legends never die, they live in our hearts forever,” posted Dzowa who is now based in the United Kingdom.

Famous for his booming free-kicks at the peak of his powers, Dzowa is remembered for scoring a crucial goal in CAPS United’s penultimate match against rivals Dynamos, during the 1996 league race.

“We shall never forget you. Go well Cde Kwashi. Era singing, right fist up,” added Dzowa, whose popular nickname was “Era Muna.”

Kwashi, who also coached Black Aces in the early 1990s, before moving to Makepekepe in 1995, died at the age of 67 due to COVID-19 related complications.

“The Dude’’, a gifted winger of his time, also played for Zimbabwe Saints, Dynamos and BAT Ramblers.

One of his sons, Fungai Kwashi, is now an assistant coach at Harare City.

He also played for CAPS United under his father.
