SUNGURA music fans are in for an Easter treat when veteran singer Alick “Baba Shero” Macheso performs this Thursday at Club Las Vegas in Southerton, Harare.

Dubbed “Impfa NdiMulandi Easter Concert”, the event is expected to ignite the Christian festive mood among many.

The organiser and joint proprietor, Itai Motsi, said he was excited to host such a gig on the eve of one of the biggest Christian events on the calendar.

“This is an important Easter eve show. We all come from different backgrounds but most of us have one thing in common, which is believing in the Almighty. We decided to host this event so as to uplift the spirit of worshippers as we go into the Easter holiday,” said Motsi.

“Baba Shero has promised fireworks, including a number of Christian worship songs.

“He has carefully selected the playlist to match the theme. We have hosted him many times before and he has never disappointed. This is a show not to miss.”

Motsi thanked Macheso’s management for considering his proposal. He added that his venue was ideal, even for a family outing.

“Harare fans, who are currently missing the sungura maestro because he is on a country tour, will be reunited with him on April 6.

“We have engaged all relevant stakeholders, including our beverage suppliers, not only to guarantee adequate supplies but also to run many promotions during the show. We have also engaged the police for tight security,” he added.

The sungura maestro is currently on a nationwide tour that has seen him performing in places like Zvishavane, Kwekwe, Gweru, Shamva, Mutare, Chipinge and Chiredzi.

“The response is encouraging. There is renewed interest in our group, if the numbers that are coming through are anything to go by. This coming Thursday, we will be at Club Las Vegas in Southerton.

“This is a special event as it is taking place on Easter eve. We have tracks that have a strong gospel message. They will be prioritised during the show,” said Macheso’s manager and publicist Tich Makahamadze.

He added that the cordial working relationship they have with the promoter made the venue one of their favourites in Harare.

“We have worked with Motsi for a very long time and have never had any issues with him. I would like to encourage all our fans to come and be part of this special gig. We will also be sampling a couple of new tracks,” he said.
