Sir 18area.coms —
THEY looked like village elders arriving for a traditional brew party as they set foot at Prince Edward High School last Saturday on a purported mission to rescue Dynamos, DeMbare.

But in all honesty these men – dressed funny and looking hungry – looked badly in need of rescuing themselves more than the club they served loyally but with little reward during the 1960s.

Ernest Kamba and his cast of George Shaya, Graciano Kapfunde, Sam Komondo, Simon Sachiti, Joseph Tsuro, Peter Huni, Isdore Sagwete and David Phiri epitomise the height of confusion.

They talked long and hard at PE. However, when the talk show ended, they appeared not to know the next step to take in their bid to take over the running of Dynamos from current board chairman Bernard Marriot.

At the end, they extended an olive branch to Marriot. Predictably Magitare – that is Marriot for you – snubbed the gesture, accusing Kamba and Co of trying to cause pandemonium at DeMbare.

Good people of God get me good. I don’t care who controls Dynamos because that does not butter my bread and they have never been my favourite club.

However, we cannot deny that DeMbare are the biggest club in the country and each time they catch a cold, our game sneezes. When I travel out of the country – which is very frequent and by air – people ask me about my President, Victoria Falls and Dynamos.

Just recently at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, an associate of mine from North Africa asked me to write her down DeMbare’s website address.

I told her DeMbare have no website.

I told her DeMbare have no offices.

I told her DeMbare have no stadium.

I told her DeMbare have nothing, not even a toilet seat – clean or otherwise – to their name! They are so broke they cannot even pay attention!

If they paid attention, these so called Glamour Boys would have long realised that football has become a multimillion dollar business with professionalism being the order of the day.

Their passionate fans don’t want to hear or read this but Dynamos are slowly dying just like the men who met in 1963, under the guidance of the late Sam Dauya, to form the famous club.

As other clubs move with the trends, DeMbare seem intent on setting a new Mannequin Challenge record. They are stuck in their own era and error.

For the uninitiated, the The Mannequin Challenge is “a viral Internet video trend where people remain frozen in action like mannequins while a moving camera films them. This is usually done with the song “Black Beatles” by Rae Sremmurd playing in the background.”

However, for Dynamos, Killer T’s track “Takangodaro” would be more ideal, don’t you think? In a season where Caps United are appointing a woman who had a stint with Newcastle to run their affairs, our good old DeMbare have a chairman who has no idea what Google is.

Marriot probably thinks that Facebook is literature one can get from Kingstons! Kenias Mubaiwa is said to be the president but the club’s constitution does not have such a position.

With each day, DeMbare are losing their glamour. Gone are the days when everyone craved to play for club, days when talented players such as Morgan Nkhatazo and Zhaimu Jambo were told they were good but not good enough for DeMbare.

Fast forward to 2016 and you see DeMbare looking for free agents and accommodating fraudsters, people who steal a living as football players.

Tatenda Mukuruva will be a free agent next week, any team that wants the Warriors number one won’t have to worry about paying transfer fees to Dynamos.

Yet this is a boy that DeMbare invested a lot in! Football is business but at Dynamos, it’s all Mickey Mouse stuff.
