WHAT began as a trial churches league in Bindura has transformed into a fascinating soccer competition that now attracts attention from across Mashonaland Central.

It’s the Bindura Churches Social Football La Liga, a 10-team inter denomination league which is drawing closer to an exciting ending.

ZAOGA will definitely be crowned champions as they are eight points clear of second placed Redeemer who have 15 points going into the last round of action.

The journey was not so rosy for AFM Chiwaridzo who anchor the log with just four points, two behind Evangelical who also struggled throughout the season.

The league’s spokesperson Cloudon Rusiano says the door is open for new entrants for the 2017 season.

“The debut league is almost wrapping up, by Week 11 we will be done. We are throwing an end of season party for the executives to celebrate the 2016 achievements as well as strategise for next season. Our doors are open for new teams and we expect to start the 2017 season league in April,” said Rusiano.

We hail Yadah Stars
Prophet Walter Magaya’s Yadah Stars could become the first church owned team to play in the Premier Soccer League after they won the Zifa Eastern Region Division One League.

There has been an impasse over how many teams will be promoted into the top flight following a tussle between Zifa and the Premier Soccer League who wanted just two.

However, it all points to an agreement where all the four winners from the Division One leagues will automatically clinch a place in the elite soccer league. Yadah Stars beat seasoned campaigners and former PSL side Buffaloes to the spot.

Big Sunday in Kadoma as ABBA Gunners FC is revived
Kadoma based All Families International Church (AFIC) Ministries, through their prophet, Chamunorwa Nyamupinga, have revived their football club ABBA Gunners with the hope of emulating Yadah Stars’ achievements.

“AFIC has the courage to promote the community and nation at large by improving the lives, not on the spiritual side only but also on the physical side.

‘‘We encourage people of different sporting talents to express God’s gift. In the same vein we are reviving ABBA Gunners and are looking forward to registering it with the Zifa Divisions.

“Our ultimate aim is to play in the Premier Soccer League,” said Prophet Nyamupinga. AFIC Ministries has a big Sunday in Rimuka, Kadoma this afternoon where Prophet Nyamupinga is expected to preach to thousands of people in the Mashonaland West town.
