CHAPUNGU will do their talking on the pitch this season.

This was the message from the Air Force of Zimbabwe side after they ruthlessly clobbered Twitter champions

Bulawayo Chiefs in Premiership clash at Mandava yesterday.

Brighton Mugoni and Ian Nyoni scored a brace apiece while Allen Tavarwisa scored once as the airmen flew their way to the top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League standings on goal difference.

Last year Chapungu had a bad start to the marathon but an imposing finish extended their stay in the elite division.

The bosses at Josiah Tungamirai Air Force Base have said they will not tolerate another below par season and the message seems to be hitting home if the way Chapungu did business is anything to go by.

Not even the heartache of being shunted from their favored Ascot to Mandava in Zvishavane could dampen their spirits.

Coach Rodwell Dhlakama was not at the game, attending a funeral in Chipinge but his lieutenant Clemence Mugari chose to give him the credit.

“I am happy with the way we started the league, it shows we have a bright future ahead of us. We know that last season we disappointed many people, including our bosses, and this year it’s all about doing the talking on the park.

“We don’t want to be part of the teams that will be involved in the relegation dogfight, this is a big club and it deserves better.

“Credit to the coach (Dhlakama), he has done so well to prepare us for the season and we are all confident of a much better year as compared to 2018,” said the Chapungu assistant coach.
Chiefs’ gaffer Joseph Sibindi insisted there was no need to press panic buttons as yet.

“They got their chances and converted and we failed to convert ours it happens in football and there is no need to be worried we will bounce back,” said Sibindi.
