CCC: Failing to prepare and preparing to fail

The Sunday Mail

Retired Major Action Mandingo

A few days ago, CCC reduced itself to a laughing stock when it announced that its “electoral task force” had met Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi.

When I saw pictures of the team in Minister Ziyambi’s office, I almost burst out laughing at the tomfoolery behind the move, but then I said to myself “Why laugh at the obvious?”

Political immaturity

The CCC even had the audacity to release a press statement, saying: “Today, our electoral reform task force met with the Minister of Justice to present our alternative Electoral Reform Bill and set out our position on electoral reforms. We reiterate our demand for alignment of the electoral law to the Constitution, the voters roll, among other reforms.”

How and why on earth is the CCC presenting its Electoral Reform Bill now?

We are obviously a few months before the elections and does this directionless, leaderless and ideologically bankrupt party think anyone in his sober mind will take them seriously?

Does the CCC think ZANU PF is that foolish and suicidal to even look at its regime-change reforms that are packaged as electoral reforms?

Are there any serious thinkers and political strategists in the CCC?

One gets the feeling that some of Nelson Chamisa’s learned colleagues in the party are secretly pushing him to press the self-destruction button.

They cannot wait for Chamisa to fail so that they get their chance to snatch the party from him. Unfortunately, due to political immaturity and an oversized ego, Chamisa is smiling to his death because he speaks and only listens to himself.

Failing to prepare and preparing to fail

Since the last elections in 2018, Chamisa’s MDC, now known as CCC, has been slowly preparing its funeral, and now that we are heading towards the homestretch of the forthcoming elections, the opposition party is preparing its burial.  If the founding father of the United States, Benjamin Franklin, was alive, he would tell CCC that “by failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail”. Against the informed advice of even his close associates and against the dictates of political science, Chamisa has decided to continue his one-man show against the mean machine called ZANU PF.

He has refused to form structures for his party, and, as a result, he is the party.

And because he is the party, he has the final word on everything happening in the party.

Unfortunately, due to his inexperience, it has been mistake after mistake.

ZANU PF has never been this fortunate!

Political scientists will tell you that in politics, strategies come out of structures. And so, if CCC has no structures, it means the party has no strategies.

Somehow, Chamisa thinks he can defy political science, and he thinks he is some super politician who can defy gravity.

He thinks he can float himself into power.

It gets even worse, because, as he continues the one-man show, Chamisa has completely failed to come up with an ideology for his party.

No one knows what the CCC stands for, except that it is a rebranded project by the West, led by the United Kingdom and the United States, to effect regime change in Zimbabwe.

Chamisa is the ideology and, unfortunately, he is such a confused ideology. How can a party with this confused ideology hope to win elections?

Of course, some people will say, “but Chamisa is doing well. Can’t you see he is filling venues whenever he holds rallies?”

This is laughable and very unfortunate.

Has anyone ever bothered to look at the composition of the people who fill Chamisa’s rallies?

Has anyone ever bothered to understand why those people attend his rallies?

The truth is that most of the people who attend Chamisa’s rallies are easily excitable youths, hoping to get free booze.

No wonder there is always chaos at most of the rallies.  He has failed to attract sober-minded middle-income earners to his party.

He only excites gullible youths who have nothing to do, youths who pin their hopes on promises and lies.

Preparing to fail

After failing to prepare, how is Chamisa preparing to fail?

Well, nothing new really.

As we approach the homestretch to elections, the young politician is preparing to fail by trying to throw spanners in the electoral works.

He is trying to spoil the soup.

This brings me back to the meeting that members of CCC’s electoral task force had with Minister Ziyambi. To be honest, that meeting with the minister was useless because, like we have said a million times, ZANU PF will not reform itself out of power. The ruling party is already oiling its election machinery, and let me openly warn CCC — the mean machine has never been this oiled.

Chamisa should be very, very afraid!

This is not an empty threat.

When you hear ZANU PF talking about five million votes, they mean it, because the mean machine is ready.

Now, with the mean machine ready, CCC comes up with its regime-change reforms disguised as electoral reforms and expects a ZANU PF that is raring to annihilate all the opposition parties to listen to its concerns.

That is rank madness, if you ask me, because I know for a fact that ZANU PF is no longer in the mood to talk about useless reforms.

ZANU PF is ready for elections.

And, by the way, we know who crafted the regime-change reforms for CCC.

In July 2022, the European Union (EU) let the cat out of the bag when it released a report titled “European Union Election Follow-up Mission Zimbabwe 2022”.

The EU Observer Mission was in Zimbabwe to observe the 2018 elections but, surprisingly, the mission decided to come back to the country from May 2 to 29 last year for what it called a follow-up mission.

This was an unprecedented move by the EU and it raised a lot of stink.

The EU did not explain the necessity of that follow-up mission, but some of us were not surprised. The CCC funders and sponsors had realised that their puppets were sleeping on the job and so the mission was meant to wake them up.

According to the report, the EU was recommending that the country aligns the Electoral Act with the country’s Constitution.

Coincidentally and interestingly, this is exactly what CCC included in its report to Minister Ziyambi.

We have been in this game for a long time and we knew this was always coming.

Like I indicated a few weeks ago, the crazy season is already upon us and we expect more drama and circus from the opposition.

The good thing is that ZANU PF is ready for the crazy season and we know what to expect.

By the way, the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, was in Zimbabwe for a three-day State visit.

If you think President Lukashenko was in Zimbabwe to donate tractors, visit the National Heroes’ Acre, visit Victoria Falls and have dinner at State House, then you do not understand anything about geopolitics.

As a retired major, let me not say much for now.

My late boss, Lieutenant-General Sibusiso Moyo (may his soul rest in peace), would say: “The situation has reached another level!”

President Lukashenko’s visit can only take Zimbabwe to another level. Soon, fellow Zimbabweans will know what I mean.

Let me repeat — the time for electoral reforms is over.

Now is the time to prepare for elections.

My old man, whom they called Hundende or Tafirenyika, would say “Imi tibvirei kumhepo, maimbovepi?”
