Bosso, Chivayo & blood nonsense!

BUT Highlanders players though?

How do you board a bus to training but refuse to disembark and get down to some work as you protest against the nonpayment of winning bonuses?

Don’t you know that assistant coach Cosmas “Tsano” Zulu will fume about wasting diesel and repeatedly shout bloody nonsense?

Excuse Yours Truly dear reader for coming out firing like the Warriors did last Sunday without taking off the hat, that only Sirs wear, and salute Norman Mapeza and his boys for a job well done.

Thanks to the fans for coming in numbers.

Thanks to Knowledge Musona for playing like a true skipper.

And great many thanks to Walter Magaya for the $1000 bonus he pledged to each Warriors player after that 3-0 thumping of Liberia in the Afcon qualifier.

What a day last Sunday turned out to be, a scene so beautiful that even the angels would have made a fly past.

But a few hours before the Warriors dismantled Liberia the Highlanders players staged an industrial action, remaining stuck in the bus when they arrived at their training base.

The move did not go down well with Zulu who blew his gasket and dared the players to give him a hiding before quantifying the industrial action in diesel and monetary terms.

“Ngitshayanini la, ngithi phumani lapha. Wasting diesel lingafuni ukusebenza. Get out of here, bloody nonsense. Kasila mali youkudlalisa la. Phumani lapha, liyangitshaya namuhla la, ngitshayanini. Bloody nonsense. Hey, I said get out. . . ,” the Bosso assistant coach can be heard fuming in an audio supplied by one of the Highlanders players and available on our website.

And a few days after that bus protest Highlanders made the way to Harare and got a thrashing at the hands of Black Rhinos in front of an appreciative crowd that was watched closely by what seemed to be trainee police officers.

The message from the police as they deployed strategically was clear, asifuni bumbulu.

And there was no idiocy from the Bosso fans, they accepted defeat and went home peacefully.

Poor Ariel Sibanda took the flake for Bosso’s 0-3 mauling by Black Rhinos at Morris Depot and chances are he will be dropped this afternoon.

Yes Sibanda had a stinker of a game but there was something terribly wrong with Highlanders, they didn’t look like the team that my wife supports.

They were always second to the ball.

While Sibanda could have done better with two of the three goals I doubt that Highlanders would have done better with any other goalie between the posts – not even Manuel Nuer would have saved them.

With Highlanders in a financial mess Wicknell Chivayo has stepped in and offered to pay the $4000 fine that the club was slapped on by the Premier Soccer League disciplinary committee for causing the abandonment of the Battle of Zimbabwe.

Chivayo has been throwing his weight – which he appears to be working hard to lose – around over the past weeks and the guy was shockingly a part of the pre-match rituals at the NSS last Sunday.

And now he has charmed his way into the hearts of some Bosso fans by offering to pay the fine when the club’s players are going hungry.

Chivayo announced his latest move, which can be read as a publicity stunt, on Facebook.

“I was speaking to our respectable Highlanders chairman Modern Ngwenya over the weekend. I was so impressed by his sentiments that “Soccer results are determined on football grounds not in board rooms “.

“I assured him that on his instruction simply by text or phone call, I will definitely go and pay the 4000 dollars fine to PSL with my eyes closed. I told him I will go one better and do them a favour and go in person myself and pay it in cash so that they can get a chance to also meet one of Highlanders life time supporters who don’t (sic) condone violence. Enough said and to cut a long story short asifuni bumbulu.”

Please update us Wicky when you “go in person myself.”
