CARL Joshua Ncube is one of the most celebrated stand-up comedians in the country, if not the region, considering that he was recently nominated for the fifth annual South African Savannah Comic Choice Awards.

Jokes aside, the comic has also established himself as a celebrity chef, successful entrepreneur, venturing into various businesses and is currently running the Cotton Country Inn in Kadoma.

Ncube has also been expanding his creativity to literature and his current offering “How to Make a 2015 Social Media Strategy” will prove to be a powerful motivational tool.

The book, which is available for free in the e-Book format, is based on the comic’s personal career.

Rather than concentrating on social media issues, the author went to great lengths to illustrate how an individual can develop a positive mindset and the foundation from which success is built.

Being the founder of the “Feel Good Zimbabwe” initiative, a platform meant to get Zimbabwe into a productive and happy state of mind, Ncube dedicated the first few sections to motivate people on how to make resolutions and seeing them come to pass.

Basing on his life experiences he states that in 2014 he achieved 85 percent of the things he had said he would do by following a set of rules which he devised.

“The year 2014 has seen me perform stand-up comedy in so many countries, I will have released two books by December 1, I started numerous comedy brands around the country, a Food Festival, Pop Up Restaurants around Zimbabwe and even started my first ever fast food franchise from my kitchen,” says Ncube before delving into ten steps, which have seen him achieving his goals.

Some of the steps mentioned and explained include consistency, resilience and making declarations among other things which are key aspects that shape the path we take towards achieving our goals.

There are some people among us who are living a lie, trying by all means to mask reality which in turn hinders their progress in life as they end up doing things that are beyond their means.

While I was reading this book, I realised the importance of accepting who I am with all the circumstances surrounding my life for me to be able to determine the starting point from which to set my goals.

“Focusing on not having money instead of what you can do when you don’t have money will either keep you in the same spot or moving in the wrong direction,” goes the narration as the author stressed on the importance of focusing on productivity rather than drowning in regret.

Ncube’s marketing prowess and business acumen is showcased throughout the book, laying down several marketing strategies which can help people in growing their brands.

Ncube has been exploiting social media to push his brands effectively and in this book he decided to impart some of the knowledge he has acquired throughout the years.

With a great number of people spending a significant amount of time on social media, many brands have been using this platform as a marketing tool.

For those without the knowledge of how they can effectively utilise these platforms, reading this book could prove to be a free lecture on the subject.

“I am a stand-up comedian to most people, but a bulk of people have no idea that I have to do my own graphics, websites (10 personal ones that I manage), Facebook page administration (20 pages), motion graphics, writing articles for various blogs, recipes for my cooking blogs amongst other things, then balancing trying to be the best husband in the world to my wife Nelsy,” says Ncube while introducing a section in which he talks about the applications (Apps) which he uses to balance his creativity while getting paid for it.

“I have been using smart phones for a while now but on many occasions I have no clue as to what some of the Apps they come with are for.

“l Joshua Ncube has a unique way of doing business and in this effort he illustrated how one can also follow his footsteps”.
