Boneheaded granny killer sentenced to 35 years

IN a display of pure idiocy, Godknows Tafadzwa Ringoziva inexplicably committed the most heinous and callous act imaginable.

For his crime, he will now spend a hefty 35 years in the slammer.

Apparently, Ringoziva decided to go on a crime spree in Kanengoni Village, Chambare Manyane, Chivhu.

When he was ransacking one of the houses, its owner, a 93-year-old granny, caught him in the act.

Instead of bolting, he decided to assault the old-timer using her own walking stick.

As if that was not enough, he proceeded to fatally smother the old lady with a blanket.

But in a display of villainous bungling, Ringoziva decided to load his loot in a stolen wheelbarrow and sauntered off into the night.

His success was, however, short-lived.

Identified by vigilant villagers as he attempted to make his escape, Ringoziva’s grand scheme crumbled like a poorly constructed house of cards.

He was apprehended.

As High Court Judge Justice Lucy-Anne Mungwari aptly put it, “The loss of life due to greed and the presence of multiple aggravating factors make the murder senseless and extremely brutal.”

Ringoziva’s antics have undoubtedly left the rural community of Chambare Manyane in Chivhu in disbelief.

Now, he will be caged for most of his adult life.
